No matter the EPCOT festival, it seems like the menu items at the food booth near the Japan Pavilion always rank quite tasty. And that’s the case at the Goshiki booth at the International Festival of the Arts.
I limited myself to two of the three food items, and it was hard to choose between Taiyaki ($6.75), the Wagyu Bun ($9.75), and the Sushi Donut ($8.75).
I decided to leave the Sushi Donut for another visit, and went with the other two. And I wasn’t disappointed.
The Wagyu Bun was delightful. The bun was soft, and the beef mix inside was ample and wonderfully sweet. And two sauces accompanied the bun – a Japanese Karashi Mustard Sauce and a Violet Shiso Sauce. I tried the mustard sauce first and was pleased, but then it turned out that the shiso sauce was even better. The entire plate made for a delicious blend. This was a 5 forks item.
My second choice was the dessert item – the Taiyaki. It’s described as a crisp, flaky fish-shaped pastry filled with sweet red bean served with whipped topping and blueberry popping boba. And the description fit. This offered a crunchy, flaky pastry, and the red bean inside was nicely sweet. But the topping and blueberry flavors elevated the Taiyaki. Yes, this was all sweet, but not in an over-the-top way. This ranked as a 4 forks item.
And yes, I will return for the Sushi Donut with high expectations.
